Breakfast Sausage

This is a recipe from another blog. It really was a treat, as you just can't get proper breakfast sausages down under, and you definitely can't get patties. The only thing I did differently was use golden syrup instead of brown sugar. I did so because it was what I had, but it also turned out well, and next time I might also add a bit of cinnamon. Best served with pikelets and "cheesy eggs";)

This whole breakfast sounds so good I'm going to have to give it a try. Even looked up a recipe for pikelets, which sound a lot like pancakes to me. Cheesy eggs, a blast from the past.:-))

Pikelets are what we would consider pancakes. They call them something different when they sell them pre-made in the supermarkets as their pancakes are more similar to crepes.

you can get something in australia called scotch sausage, which is like a pattie, i don't know if this is what you mean by breakfast sausage. if you're ending up in adelaide there are some butchers in the south of the city that sell it. let me know if you're desperately home sick and you want their names

Made this for Easter breakfast today. Used all ingredients in the original recipe except for red pepper flakes as I thought the cayenne would add enough hot flavor without overdoing. Was very good and tasted fresh, not as salty as store bought sausage. Next time I'd mix all the spices together first and then make sure I mixed it in well.
